Hello, my name is Grant Potts. I am an Associate Professor of Religion at Austin Community College. I also offer classes at St. Edward’s University in Austin, and graduate courses at Cherry Hill Seminary, where I also serve as the Department Chair of the Text, Tradition, and Interpretation department.
Welcome to my academic web page. Here you will find a number of resources related to my academic work, primarily in research, teaching, and writing as it relates to the study of religion.
This page also hosts professional information, such as my CV, my research profile, and my statement of Teaching Philosophy.
In addition to this resource, religiousthought.com also hosts several other web pages. The first, Faces in the Moon, Armies in the Clouds is this current page, which also functions as my academic blog. I periodically update with informal observations on my work, the study of religion, religion in the world, and the academic life. The second, The Secret Life of Religion, was a class blog for my class on religion, media, and performance. I maintain it primarily now as an archive for others who are interested in using a class blog as an educational resource. I also maintain a small archive of student papers, all of which student’s have given me permission to publish on my web page. I also use this domain to host various resources for my classes.
